The LJW staff rates the top five point guards of the Bill Self era. My take from this is how Self has not had great success recruiting at this position. Hopefully, that is about to change.

Mike Magnuson of Bicycling magazine lists 17 cool rides.

Matt Krantz of USA Today writes Theme Parks are roaring back to life – couldn’t help but notice how all other chains are pouring money into their parks while Six Flags isn’t expecting big revenue gains. Six Flags isn’t investing heavily in new rides – only 3% of their revenue is spent on capital expenditures. They have a big opportunity to boost their bottom line by increasing ticket prices. Wow! That is the Six Flags mantra – nothing new here but a ticket increase. Unbelievable.

Joe Rodriguez of the Mercury News covers the opening of the new coaster, Gold Striker, at Great America in Santa Clara. Being a resident of St Charles, Missouri and close to Six Flags St Louis, I wonder what it’s like to have a “new” coaster?

One of my favorites, Brady MacDonald of the L.A. Times writes his review of the refurbished of the Timber Mountain log ride at Knott’s Berry Farm.

Joseph Taylor of MiceChat.com has a great article and photos of the opening of Sea World Aquatica in San Diego.

Lindsay H Jones of the USA Today has this Chiefs offseason report/recap.

It’s been six months since Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher killed his girlfriend and then committed suicide on the Chiefs parking lot. The custody trial for his child is about to begin – by Lindsay H Jones of the USA Today.

Yellowcard announces that Ocean Avenue Acoustic will be released on August 13th.

Stan McNeal of Fox Sports writes that Yadier Molina needs not apologize for not hustling to first base on the play that got him and manager Mike Matheny ejected yesterday. I agree with McNeal that Molina does not need to run out every pop fly or ground out to an infielder, but I do feel that he should run out balls hit to the hole as was the case yesterday. If he did, we wouldn’t be talking about any ejections today.
